Berkshire Coaching Weekend 2014
2014 marked the sixth biennial Berkshire Coaching Weekend, a series of drives commemorating and continuing the Gilded Age tradition of coaching in the Berkshire HIlls of western Massachusetts.
At the turn of the century, there were a number of sizeable and elaborate "Cottages" in and around Lenox and Stockbridge. Beautiful coaches and horses, often in teams of four, graced the roads. The crisp air and rich fall colors make October an especially beautiful time for a re-creation of this experience.
Over a three day period, coaches leave their headquarters at Harvey and Mary Waller's Orleton Farm in Stockbridge, and travel through the town roads and villages to a different cultural site each day -- this year, Elm Court Estate, The Rockwell Museum, and The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Estate and Gardens.
